Air conditioning selection should reflect the rooms, operating hours and installation conditions of the building. We compare VRF and commercial unit arrangements with the cooling and heating load, air distribution and maintenance needs. SCA Engineering is a Mitsubishi Heavy and FujiTherma dealer and coordinates surveys, equipment selection, supply, installation and commissioning.
VRF for room and zone requirements
A VRF installation connects multiple indoor units through a controlled refrigerant network. The permitted combinations and operating modes are specific to the selected series. We assess room loads, simultaneous demand and zoning before choosing the outdoor arrangement. Pipe lengths, elevation limits, branches and controls are coordinated as part of the design; the number of indoor units alone is not a complete selection method.
Commercial indoor types and architectural fit
Cassette, concealed ducted, wall-mounted and other suitable indoor arrangements are compared with ceiling space, discharge direction and access. Ducted installations require an assessment of external pressure and terminal distribution. Noise and local air speed matter in the occupied zone. We coordinate equipment positions with the interior so that filters, drains and service panels remain accessible after fit-out.
Cooling and fresh air are separate duties
A standard recirculating indoor unit controls room temperature but does not automatically provide the required outdoor air. We assess ventilation independently and coordinate any approved fresh-air interface with the air-conditioning installation. The incoming-air load, control sequence and room pressure relationships are considered together. Restaurant kitchens and process areas can also require dedicated extraction beyond normal room cooling.
A proposal with clear installation boundaries
The technical scope identifies equipment models, controls, refrigerant piping, electrical interfaces, condensate routes and commissioning. Existing equipment or pipework is retained only after its suitability is assessed for the proposed arrangement. The operating and maintenance information at handover helps the client understand the selected technology and the conditions that should prompt a review as the building changes.

Technical points we check
- Calculated room loads and model performance at the intended conditions.
- Permitted unit combinations, piping limits and supported operating modes.
- Comfortable air distribution, drainage and maintenance access.
- Separately assessed ventilation and a documented installation/commissioning scope.
From site survey to handover
We compare the building load, room layout, operating hours and installation restrictions before selecting equipment. Indoor and outdoor units are coordinated with refrigerant pipework, drainage, electrical supplies and controls. At handover, we record the relevant installation and commissioning checks and explain the agreed operating settings. Clear service access and an identified maintenance scope help the system remain manageable as the building use changes.
Frequently asked questions
Should I choose VRF or individual commercial units?
We compare zoning, installation routes, operating hours, controls and maintenance with the building’s load. The best arrangement depends on the whole project rather than a brand or unit count alone.
Can you compare Mitsubishi Heavy and FujiTherma?
Yes. We explain the selected series’ technology and installation limits in relation to your project, then define the equipment and installation scope for an informed comparison.
