Fixed dry-chemical suppression is selected for the specific industrial hazard and approved application. Agent chemistry, distribution and the protected equipment are assessed together. We coordinate the vessel, pipework, nozzles, detection and control interfaces, with cleaning and reinstatement requirements included in the project rather than left until after discharge.
Select the agent for the hazard
ABC or BC dry chemical and powder intended for combustible-metal hazards do not describe the same application. Agent chemistry and the complete system’s approvals determine suitability. We identify the process materials, equipment and possible ignition conditions before selecting a fixed arrangement. A familiar portable-extinguisher label does not establish that the same agent or distribution design is appropriate for an industrial fixed system.
Distribution is not a water-pipe calculation
The vessel, propellant arrangement, pipe network and discharge nozzles must work as an approved system. Routing, fittings and nozzle placement affect delivery. We compare the actual installation with the selected manufacturer’s calculation and application limits. Moving the vessel or adding a branch can require a new assessment even if the nozzle count is unchanged; hydraulic assumptions from a water system should not be transferred indiscriminately.
Flame suppression and cooling are different
Suppressing visible flames does not automatically remove every source of heat or prevent reignition. The protected process, shutdown interfaces and subsequent response must be considered together. Fixed industrial dry-chemical systems should not be treated as a substitute for application-appropriate wet-chemical kitchen protection. We define the selected hazard and operating sequence clearly so the client understands the intended protection limits.
Cleaning, maintenance and return to service
Discharged powder may require assessment and cleaning of the protected equipment before it can be operated again. The project identifies access, agent supply, inspection and reinstatement responsibilities. Detection, manual controls and process-isolation interfaces are tested according to the agreed method. Maintenance records help preserve the selected system’s condition and identify process or equipment changes that require a design review.

Technical points we check
- Process materials, agent chemistry and the complete system’s approved application.
- Vessel, propellant, pipe routing and nozzle arrangement evaluated together.
- Shutdown and reignition conditions beyond visible flame suppression.
- Cleaning, agent replacement, testing and controlled return to service.
From site survey to handover
We begin with the protected hazard, occupancy, building layout and available infrastructure. The design documents define the selected system, equipment limits, detection and control interfaces, installation responsibilities and acceptance checks. Tests are planned with the building team so that isolations, alarms and reinstatement are controlled. We provide the agreed drawings, equipment records and operating instructions, including the changes that require the protection strategy to be reviewed.
Frequently asked questions
Is ABC powder suitable for every fixed suppression system?
No. The protected material, agent chemistry and selected system’s approval must be verified. Combustible-metal and other specialised hazards can require different agents and methods.
Can equipment restart immediately after discharge?
Restart depends on the process, equipment condition and completed inspection, cleaning and reinstatement requirements. A universal immediate-restart assumption would be inappropriate.
